Hey everyone! It’s been a while since my last post. Facet.ink is still in development, and we’re excited to release a new version soon. 😊

Today, I’d like to share a new concept—not a business, but an idea I’ve been working on. I've created a simple proof-of-concept app (open source) to bring it to life. You can check it out at withnela.org.

Let me introduce Nela. I’ve always wondered why email clients haven’t really evolved much since their introduction long ago. I believe the main reason for this stagnation is the sheer complexity of email’s underlying infrastructure and protocols. Nela aims to change that.

It’s a vision for a new protocol designed for textual communication, similar to email, but streamlined. Nela abstracts the email experience, offering just two API endpoints for message exchange. You can explore the documentation on GitHub: github.com/fvonx/nela.

I’m excited to hear your thoughts—does this idea resonate with you? 😊

Thanks! Matthias

Hey everyone!

I'm super happy to announce that every book written on Facet.ink now seamlessly evolves into a community hub where authors and readers can engage, discuss content, ask questions, and provide feedback. This new feature (we call it "Community") marks our next big stride toward cultivating a community that thrives on collaboration, inspiration, and ongoing improvement.

Really looking forward to hearing what you think of it. :)

It would be a great bonus if Facet could provide an ISBN number before publishing a book.

Thanks for your comment, Zlatko! Indeed, it is not yet possible to register an ISBN via Facet. We do have - at least the task of considering this kind of integration - on our roadmap. Unfortunately, today I can't really tell you when or if we will allow registering ISBNs in the future.

Btw, I've added a longer response to your comment in the Community section of the example book that you've added to your library as well. Looking forward to seeing your there too. :)

You did? I‘m still trying to find it. ☺️

Wonderful feedback! We'll work on that soon. 😊🙏 Just open the book (reading area). At the bottom of the sidebar there is a button called „Community“. 😊

Aha, I found it. 😊

It’s amazing!

Thank you Alison! 🫶 Really looking forward to your book. 😉

In a few days, every book written on http://Facet.ink will become a community by default. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it. Writing, publishing, and discussing ebooks has never been easier! It's becoming increasingly common for us to discuss tasks on project management tools—it's about time we discuss large-form writings as well. :)

At first sight, wonderful! I was expecting to see something like this on the market. Just created an account so I can explore it this weekend. But the landing page tells me this looks promising.

Oh man, thank you Zlatko! Looking so forward to hearing what you say. We're currently improving the app a lot and hope to ship in a few days! Thanks!!

Hey everyone! We're excited to announce a new feature on Facet.ink: writers can now add polls to their books. This is just the start of our efforts to enhance interaction between authors and readers. What are your thoughts on this?

We've updated our Facet.ink website. Still a lot of things to do here. What do you think?
