As most know, I’m not a dev, but a maker…
Mostly niche websites and a couple newsletters on Substack.
I’ve had a very slow go of it this year due to my daughter being diagnosed with schizophrenia and coming back home to be cared for full time.

It’s okay tho, we are making the most of it to keep making, and the situation gave some much needed clarity to what is most important to work on with so little time.

Right now, between writing on Substack, I’m rebuilding my Postcard website. It’s doing very well due the topic being a boomer niche.  I highly recommend including boomers needs into your projects as they have money…
Then I’m looking into making a postcard festival like comic con instead of the old way with postcard clubs.  It needs a grand event upheaval to continue after boomers move on.
I’m also working on making a community home for my daughter for when I depart and she will need continued care.  A tough topic indeed, but necessary.  Postcards are what i’m using to jumpstart all the projects, as they have received the greatest response from all my projects so far.
All righty then, keep making my friends. 🫶

Setup.gallery is live, nothing major tho

I need to add it later to my products I guess so I can tag it.

It's my first real niche website so I'm expecting to make quite a few mistakes.

Please call me out on them 🙏 but remember I'm almost a boomer so be kind with your candor 😊

My other sites have always been more like hobby sites so to make the transition over to maker mode is just a bit challenging.

Yet... here we go... Have fun 😊

We are into the 3rd month of the created for you Web asset on the Setup Gallery. The backend is looking promising. I cannot wait until Web Asset Builders opens up the gates.

I also got a ghostwriter for Saunter.Club My brothers are adventuring faster than I can get blog posts written, which is exciting. I found an author I already admire on Medium, and she was on Upwork. it's going to be a ++ for me.

I also am getting started with the LaLa Indie Maker domain for my portfolio of projects. This is where I will build my holding company for all the other projects.

I launched a newsletter on Substack regarding my daughters journey with schizophrenia and what it entails to be her caretaker while building and working full-time.

So basically on the back end, I'm moving everything over from LaLaMedia to LaLa Indie Maker. It's just the best fit for the work I'm doing. I'm not a media company, and I don't want to manage other people's media. I am an Indie Maker, building my own projects, and who ever is going along on this journey will understand the difference. I hope to grow into building a mobile app for Saunter Club. Also wanting to grow Postcard Whisperer into an event circuit or conference event in maybe 4 regions of the US. Conventions are a colossal step-up to build at this point, but I have to set the bar High to get the potential rolling in the right direction.

Divina and I added Gig work to get some motion into all of it. Every time we step outside our bubble, we find more things that need building. Keep your eyes open, folks. There's plenty to build and make a better world!

Returning from Vacation. It was fun!
Since I was gone for 2 weeks, I went ahead and hired out a site builder for one of my websites.  It’s been very hard for me to relinquish control, but I’m going to step back and let them do their work.  They cannot screw it up worse than me trying to learn this stuff.  Plus they do come highly recommended in the niche site industry.

I imagine this is not really Indie Making in the purest form. But I’m 58 & working 50+ hours in the day job, I’m caring for my adult daughter afterwork, I’m doing gig work as a side hustle, and I’m still writing and building my other websites.  I feel like I’m going to own Indie Maker as my identity.

I hope you gentlemen and ladies are making progress in your projects.  I rely on mine for mental well-being.   Remember to Follow your joy while you’re building!
