The last 30 hours have been so crazy! 🤯

@goalkit_app has been ranking in several countries in the last hours and more than 10,000 (!!!) people downloaded the app.

The Facts

🤑 4,500 free lifetime versions sold (>80,000$)

⏫ 10.000 downloads

🤯 Sometimes more than 800 active users per hour

🌟 Ranked in productivity charts in US, Canada, Portugal and more

How did I do it?

It's pretty simple. I did what @jdluk87 recommended.

I submitted my app to AppsGonnaFreeToday and was featured yesterday. 😅

While this meant that I would "lose" a lot of money because the lifetime version of the app would be free, the main goal was to gain new users, improve the AppStore ranking and most importantly get reviews.

Would I recommend it?

Absolutely! If you have any API costs, you should think about ways to limit usage so that it does not cost too much (e.g. I disabled OpenAI requests for a few days), but if it does not cost you anything, do it!

How my rating will change, how many ratings I will get, and what kind of long term effect it will have, idk yet, but will certainly talk about it when I know more.

What have I done to prevent problems?

As always, there will be problems. For me, the amount was pretty small / could be solved quickly, because thanks to @florianvates' recap of his IndieSantaApp launch, I knew what to do. 🙏

I hardcoded a specific time frame into the app where the paywall should change and only show the free lifetime offer. If the price is not $0.00 in that time frame, the "Redeem" button disappears completely and the user can only contact me (happened several times).

After the user successfully redeemed the free version, a view popped up asking the user if they wanted to support the app and submit a review.

I received about 50 support requests during this period, which was definitely manageable, and almost all of them were successfully resolved.

Missed the free opportunity?

I just activated a short time offer for the lifetime version⏰. After that I might change the pricing model, not sure yet.
